Amiga 3000 – The beginning
The Amiga 3000 – the pinnacle of my Amiga years ranging from 1991 to 1998 – had been in heavy hibernation for almost twenty years up until this very winter. My dwellings into the world of retro equipment had started a few years earlier with a heavy load of NES and interest in mainly watching speedrunning from events like Awesome Games Done Quick etc. I sorted out a RetroPie and built it into an old NES that I had lying around (separate article on that build to come).
But I had known basically since I stopped using the Amiga as my main computer that it would return. When I migrated to PC back in 1998 I deliberately left out a lot of files so that I would enjoy returning to my old system to find things that were nowhere else to see.
Unfortunately when she was brought down from the attic, the years had not been very kind to her. I also remember me being not very gentle back in the days either, so to begin with, I would have to start with a quite thorough clean of especially keyboard and chassi.
This post is just to show where the newfound Amiga passion were born, and what a filthy beast I had been to neglect this beauty to such a sorry state.
